Why We Own Our Infrastructure

Physical infrastructure ownership is a core part of how MJF Ventures LLC creates durable value — for our portfolio brands, for Fitzgerald Tech Solutions clients, and for professional services firms that need AI without sending sensitive data to the public cloud.

What MJF Ventures Hardware includes

MJF Ventures owns the production IT assets that every brand in the portfolio runs on:

  • Proxmox clusters for virtualization and workload isolation
  • Networking, SAN, and tape for storage and backup
  • Colocation and AI inference hardware — including on-premise GPU capacity for LLM workloads
  • A domain portfolio of roughly 309 names, managed centrally for parking, brokerage, and launchpad use

No brand in the portfolio may acquire or operate production IT in its own name. That central ownership keeps capital efficient, security consistent, and per-brand P&L clean.

Why ownership beats renting for our model

Pure-software competitors cannot easily replicate three things we get from owned infrastructure:

  1. On-premise AI inference for sensitive client data — law firms with attorney-client privilege requirements and medical practices with PHI can keep documents inside a controlled environment.
  2. Bare-metal performance for database and compute workloads where cloud egress and per-hour pricing would erode margins.
  3. A margin structure that improves as hardware is amortized — recurring revenue on infrastructure we already own compounds over time.

That upfront capital investment creates a durable advantage in the mid-market: clients who cannot afford to build their own datacenter but are sensitive to cloud costs and data residency requirements.

How this supports investors and partners

For investors evaluating MJF Ventures as an operating company, owned infrastructure is tangible collateral on the balance sheet and a moat against commodity SaaS competitors. For MSP and AI consultant partners, it means a credible backend — not a resold cloud bill — when you refer clients who need governed AI or colocation.

Shared backbone, not duplicated spend

Fitzgerald Tech Solutions, Automation Governor, AI integration services, and our hosting DBAs all run on a shared, centrally managed backbone rather than duplicating infrastructure per business line. That is how a lean holding company can operate dozens of brands without dozens of datacenters.
